Lyon’s Summer Sale: Where to, for the club’s wantaway ? (or not)

Summer is here and rumors about the Summer Window Mercato are as hot as the sun in  the French Riviera ; Olympique Lyonnais, seven times France’s champion are the pundits favorite topic expecting  a players’  exodus …or not !

Bruno Genesio the club’s manager is one of Lyon’s faithful servants, but he’s also a subject of critics and disappointment; his methods and players choice are often criticised and OL’s  President Jean-Michel Aulas‘ support, not always in Genesio’s favor.

Lyon’s squad is a mix of young Academy players and old timers; everyone is looking for  first team regular football and the manager’s hesitancy and lack of experience, just make things worse.

So who’s leaving France’s capital of gastronomy? Here’s some suggestions:

Alexandre Lacazette : his future transfer was known several weeks before the Ligue1 last game; a gentleman’s agreement with Atletico Madrid in replacement of Manchester United target, Antoine Griezmann. This would be the perfect transfer, but with Atletico’s ban to buy  players this summer, the deal fell off.( but did it?) Rumors from Spanish media understand that Atletico could sign the French international and wait untill the Winter window before including him in their squad.

If not then.  where to for the Frenchman? He already made his emotional “Adieux” to his mates and fans, he must leave,  but where?

Premier League is the only championship who can afford the price of  the 11 times capped player: Arsenal and Liverpool are on the ranks, but Man.U are too pushing from behind. President Aulas met Arsène  Wenger in Nice, so maybe Arsenal are hot favorites, even if they haven’t Champions League to offer…

Jean-Michel Aulas, said that his player will leave only if a club is willing to meet the asking price….£55M !

Rachid Chezall the Algerien international, is still on stand-by: his contract will be over this summer but  the former Lyon’s Academy youngster isn’t in a hurry to sign the club’s  new one; his profile interest  Valence and Southampton; Chezall will take a decision after the International round-up.

One of the most wanted is Corentin Tolisso; AC Milan started their mercato signing very quickly several players(Matteo  Musacchio, Frank Kessié and Ricardo Rodriguez) and the Italian club don’t want to stop. The 22 year-old midfielder is now their new target and french pundits understand that negotiations (50M Euros) have already began.

The Italian giants are not the only ones: Juventus were on the ranks too, but they’ll have to choose between their two targets, Tolisso(OL) and Fabinho(Monaco).Chelsea are interested too, for having on the pitch  a duet  composed by NKanté and Tolisso could be awesome !

Nevertheless it might not happen, because the French international has a new suitor; Bayern Munich!

Is Lyon’s old timer  Mathieu Valbuena, en route to Turkey’s Fenerbahçe ? The 32  year old has one year left in his contract but he’s no more in Genesio’s future plans; Fenerbahçe are keen to sign him( 3 or 4 M Euros).

There will be several others who’ll leave with a smile on their face or not …Christophe Jallet is courted by Bordeaux, NKoulou interests EPL’s Crystal Palace, Emmanuel Mammana is en route to Spain(Valencia or Villareal), Gaspar, Monaco (?) bound and Rybus towards Russia’s CSKA ?

That’s five defenders on the go; only goalkeeper Anthony Lopes is securely rooted between the goal’s sticks.

So many rumored  departures, so what about some new signings?  There aren’t  any yet, but hopefully there will be some newcomers…shortly ?
